We collect the minimum information necessary to provide our video distribution service. The specific data collected depends on which platforms you connect.

2.1 Account Information

  • Email address (for account creation and communication)
  • Name (as provided during registration)

2.2 TikTok Data (via TikTok Content Posting API)

When you connect your TikTok account, we request the following OAuth scopes and collect the corresponding data:

  • user.info.basic — Your TikTok display name, nickname, avatar URL, and open_id. Used to display your creator identity on the posting interface.
  • video.publish — Permission to publish approved content directly to your TikTok profile on your behalf.
  • video.upload — Permission to send content as drafts to your TikTok inbox for your review before publishing.

We store your TikTok OAuth access token and refresh token securely to maintain your connection. We do not collect your TikTok password, follower lists, private messages, or any data beyond the scopes listed above.

2.3 YouTube Data (via YouTube Data API v3)

When you connect your YouTube account, we collect your channel name, channel ID, and upload permissions as authorized through Google's OAuth consent screen. Our use of YouTube data complies with the Google Privacy Policy.

2.4 Content You Upload

Video files, captions, thumbnails, and metadata you provide for distribution. These are transmitted to the target platform(s) and are not stored on MKVID servers after successful publication.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect exclusively to:

  • Display your connected platform identity (e.g., TikTok avatar and nickname) within the MKVID interface.
  • Publish or draft content to your connected social media channels based on your explicit action (clicking "Publish" or "Save as Draft").
  • Enforce platform-required settings (privacy level, Duet/Stitch/Comment permissions, commercial content disclosure) as mandated by TikTok's Content Posting API guidelines.
  • Provide analytics and performance metrics for your published content.
  • Improve our AI metadata generation tools using aggregate, non-personally identifiable data only.

We never publish content without your explicit command. Every post requires you to actively click "Publish to TikTok" or "Save as Draft".

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use essential cookies only to maintain your session and ensure secure access to our dashboards. We do not use third-party tracking, advertising, retargeting, or profiling cookies.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties.

We share data only in the following circumstances:

  • Platform APIs: Your content and metadata are transmitted to TikTok and/or YouTube via their official APIs when you initiate a publish or draft action.
  • Infrastructure Providers: We use trusted hosting providers (encrypted servers) to operate MKVID. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

AI Models: Your authorized API data is NOT used to train global AI models. AI functionality within MKVID (such as caption and metadata generation) operates only on your specific content generation requests and is not shared across users.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your information only for as long as necessary to provide our services:

  • OAuth Tokens: Stored as long as your account is active. Deleted immediately upon account revocation or deletion.
  • TikTok User Data (nickname, avatar): Cached only during active sessions. Not stored permanently.
  • Video Content: Transmitted to the target platform and removed from our servers within 24 hours of successful publication.
  • Account Data: Retained until you request deletion.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • All API tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption.
  • All data in transit is protected via TLS 1.2+ (HTTPS).
  • Server infrastructure is access-controlled and monitored.
  • OAuth tokens are stored separately from user account data.

8. Children's Privacy

MKVID is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a user under 18 has provided us with personal data, we will delete it immediately.
