YouTube API Services — required disclosures

  • MKVID uses YouTube API Services. The YouTube features of MKVID are built on the YouTube Data API v3.
  • By using the YouTube features of MKVID you are agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms).
  • Google’s handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy (http://www.google.com/policies/privacy).
  • You can revoke MKVID’s access to your Google and YouTube data at any time through the Google security settings page (https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions).
  • What YouTube data we access, why, how long we keep it and how to have it deleted is set out in Section 3.2 and Section 7 below.

1. Introduction

MKVID (“MKVID”, “we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website mkvid.com and the MKVID application, a multi-platform video distribution tool that publishes video content to social and video platforms on behalf of the account owner who authorizes it.

This policy explains what information we access, collect, store, use and share; who we share it with; how long we keep it; how you revoke our access; and how you have your data deleted. It applies to every part of the MKVID service, including the YouTube, TikTok and Meta integrations.

This policy is permanently and publicly available at https://mkvid.com/privacy, linked from the footer of every page of mkvid.com, from the sidebar of every screen of the MKVID application, and from the authorization screen shown before any platform account is connected.

2. YouTube API Services

MKVID uses YouTube API Services. Specifically, MKVID is an API Client of the YouTube Data API v3 and uses it to upload videos to a YouTube channel that you own and have explicitly connected, and to set the metadata (title, description, tags, category, thumbnail, privacy status and made-for-kids declaration) of those uploads.

2.1 Agreements that apply to you

  • By using the YouTube features of MKVID, you are agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
  • Data that Google receives, and Google’s use of it, is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Data that MKVID receives is governed by this policy.

2.2 Authorization and scopes

MKVID never asks for or receives your Google password. Access is granted through Google’s own OAuth 2.0 consent screen, where you select the channel and approve the permissions. MKVID operates as a YouTube content owner (CMS) partner and multi-channel network, and requests the following scopes:

ScopeWhat MKVID does with it
.../auth/youtube.upload Upload a video file to the channel you connected. Used only when you press “Upload to YouTube” on the upload screen.
.../auth/youtube Read the connected channel’s name and ID so we can show you which channel an upload will go to, and set the metadata, playlist placement and privacy status of the videos MKVID uploads.
.../auth/youtube.force-ssl Carry out the write operations above over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and set the thumbnail on videos MKVID uploaded.
.../auth/youtube.readonly Read the channel’s own videos and their public statistics, so the MKVID dashboard can show the upload history and performance of the content we published for you.
.../auth/youtubepartner Operate the YouTube content owner (CMS) account under which the network’s channels are managed: read and manage assets, ownership and rights metadata for content the network owns.
.../auth/yt-analytics.readonly Read views and watch time for the channels the network manages, so programming and publishing decisions are made on current audience demand.
.../auth/yt-analytics-monetary.readonly Read estimated revenue for those channels. Read-only: MKVID never changes monetisation settings, payment details or ad configuration.
.../auth/youtubepartner-channel-audit Onboarding only. Review the private channel information YouTube makes available to a partner during the audit process, before a channel is linked to the network. As YouTube requires, the token granted for this scope is revoked within two weeks of the audit, or as soon as the channel is linked or the audit is abandoned — whichever comes first.

You may grant or deny these permissions on Google’s consent screen, and revoke them later at any time (see Section 7).

2.3 What MKVID does not do with YouTube data

  • We do not sell, rent, trade or license YouTube data to anyone.
  • We do not serve advertising against YouTube data, and we allow no third party to serve advertisements or other content on any MKVID screen that displays YouTube data.
  • We do not use YouTube data to train, fine-tune or improve any AI or machine-learning model, ours or anyone else’s.
  • We do not build advertising or behavioural profiles from YouTube data, and we do not combine it with data from other sources for that purpose.
  • We do not read your subscriber list, watch history, private messages, or comments and analytics beyond the videos MKVID itself uploaded.
  • We do not upload, modify, publish or delete anything on your channel without an explicit action taken by you in the MKVID interface.

3. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum information necessary to run the service. What we collect depends on which platforms you connect.

3.1 Account information

  • Email address — account creation, service notices and deletion confirmations.
  • Name and, optionally, company name — as provided by you at registration.

3.2 YouTube data (via the YouTube Data API v3)

When you connect a YouTube channel, MKVID accesses, collects and stores exactly the following:

YouTube dataPurpose
OAuth access token and refresh token Maintain the authorized connection so you do not have to re-authorize on every upload. Encrypted at rest.
Channel title and channel ID Display which channel is connected and which channel an upload will be sent to.
Video ID, title, privacy status and processing status of videos MKVID uploaded Show the upload history and publication status on your MKVID dashboard.
Asset, ownership and rights metadata in the content owner (CMS) account Manage the rights of content the network owns, on behalf of the content owner.
Private channel information shown during a partner audit Reviewed once, at onboarding, before a channel is linked to the network. Not retained: the token is revoked within two weeks of the audit, as YouTube requires.
View, like and comment counts of videos MKVID uploaded Show basic performance of your own uploads in the MKVID dashboard. Never used for advertising or profiling.

We do not access any other YouTube data. In particular we do not collect your Google contacts, Gmail, Drive, location, subscriber identities, watch history or private messages.

3.3 TikTok data (via the TikTok Content Posting API)

When you connect a TikTok account we request the scopes user.info.basic (display name, nickname, avatar URL and open_id, shown on the posting screen), video.publish (publish approved content to your profile) and video.upload (send content as a draft to your TikTok inbox for your review). We store the TikTok OAuth access and refresh tokens. We do not collect your TikTok password, follower list or private messages.

3.4 Meta data (via the Facebook Pages and Instagram Graph APIs)

When you connect a Facebook Page or Instagram professional account we collect the Page/account ID and name and the Page access token, solely to publish the content you approve. We do not collect your friend list, personal profile data or private messages.

3.5 Content you provide

Video files, thumbnails, captions and metadata that you upload to MKVID for distribution. These are transmitted to the platform(s) you select and removed from MKVID servers within 24 hours of a successful publication.

3.6 Technical and log data

Server logs recording the date, time, API endpoint and outcome of each request MKVID makes on your behalf, plus the IP address used to sign in. These exist for security, abuse prevention and debugging, and are retained for 30 days.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above only to:

  • Show you which platform accounts are connected and which account a post will go to.
  • Upload, schedule or draft content to your connected accounts when, and only when, you explicitly initiate the action in the MKVID interface.
  • Apply the publishing settings you selected (privacy status, made-for-kids declaration, interaction settings, commercial-content disclosure) exactly as you set them.
  • Show you the status and basic performance of content that MKVID published for you.
  • Keep the service secure, prevent abuse of the platform APIs, and comply with platform policies and the law.

MKVID never publishes content without your explicit command. Every publication requires you to actively press the publish or upload control for that platform.

Aggregate, de-identified usage statistics (for example “number of uploads processed this month”) may be used to operate and improve the service. These contain no YouTube data and no personally identifiable information.

5. Cookies and Information Stored on Your Device

MKVID stores information on your device only as follows:

  • Essential session cookie — keeps you signed in to the MKVID dashboard. Expires when the session ends.
  • Local storage key mkvid_cookie_consent — remembers that you dismissed the cookie notice.

We use no third-party analytics, advertising, retargeting, fingerprinting or profiling cookies, and we embed no third-party trackers. No YouTube data is written to your device by MKVID.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data or your platform data to anyone. We disclose data only in these circumstances:

  • To the platform you chose. Your content and metadata are transmitted to YouTube, TikTok, Facebook or Instagram through their official APIs when you initiate a publish action.
  • To our infrastructure providers. MKVID runs on access-controlled, encrypted servers operated for us under contract. These providers process data only on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes.
  • Where the law requires it. We may disclose information if compelled by valid legal process, and will notify you unless legally prohibited from doing so.

We do not allow third parties to serve content or advertisements inside MKVID, and no advertising network, data broker or AI training pipeline receives your YouTube, TikTok or Meta data.

7. Data Retention, Revoking Access, and Deletion

7.1 How long we keep YouTube data

In line with the YouTube API Services Developer Policies, stored YouTube data is refreshed from the API or deleted within 30 calendar days. Specifically:

DataRetention
OAuth access and refresh tokens Kept while the connection is active. Deleted immediately when you disconnect in MKVID or revoke access in your Google Account.
Channel title and channel ID Refreshed from the API or deleted within 30 calendar days.
Video ID, title, status and public counts of videos MKVID uploaded Refreshed from the API or deleted within 30 calendar days.
Source video file you uploaded to MKVID Deleted within 24 hours of a successful publication, or within 7 days if the publication fails.
Server logs30 days, then deleted.
Account record (name, email)Kept until you close your account or request deletion.

7.2 Revoking MKVID’s access

You can withdraw MKVID’s access at any time, and you do not need our cooperation to do it:

  • YouTube / Google. Use the Google security settings page (https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions), also reachable at myaccount.google.com/permissions: select MKVID and choose “Remove access”. This invalidates our tokens at Google immediately. You may also disconnect inside MKVID under Account & Data → Disconnect, which deletes the tokens we hold.
  • TikTok. TikTok app → Settings and privacy → Security and permissions → Manage app permissions.
  • Meta. Facebook Settings → Business integrations.

7.3 Requesting deletion of your data

To have your MKVID account, all stored OAuth tokens and all cached platform data permanently erased, either use Account & Data → Request full data deletion inside the application, or email [email protected] from the address on your account. Full instructions are at mkvid.com/data-deletion.

We complete deletion requests as soon as possible and within 7 calendar days, and confirm by email when it is done. Deleting your MKVID data does not remove videos already published on YouTube or any other platform — those belong to your channel and are managed in that platform’s own tools.

8. Data Security

  • OAuth access and refresh tokens are encrypted at rest with AES-256 and stored separately from account records.
  • All data in transit is protected with TLS 1.2 or higher; all YouTube API calls are made over HTTPS.
  • Server infrastructure is access-controlled, monitored and restricted to named administrators.
  • Access to production data is limited to personnel who need it to operate the service.

9. Children’s Privacy

MKVID is a business tool and is not directed to or intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that we hold data from a person under 18, we delete it promptly. When you upload to YouTube through MKVID, you declare whether the content is made for kids; MKVID passes that declaration through unchanged and never guesses it for you.

10. Your Rights (CCPA / GDPR)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Deletion — request erasure of your personal data (see Section 7.3).
  • Correction — have inaccurate data corrected.
  • Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent — revoke platform access at any time (see Section 7.2).
  • Opt out of sale — we do not sell personal data, so no opt-out is required.

To exercise any of these rights, write to [email protected]. We respond within 30 days, and within 7 calendar days for deletion requests.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Material changes are posted on this page with a new “Last Updated” date, and we notify account holders by email. Continued use of MKVID after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Contact Us
